Alexandre Ribeiro is a writer and social entrepreneur. He grew up in Diadema, came to Berlin through a scholarship and graduated from Bard College Berlin. In Dear Heinz, that journey finds a new literary form.

Antes do hospital, antes da polícia, antes da roupa perdida, antes que alguém tentasse escolher uma palavra menor para guardar o que aconteceu, havia uma porta. Verde.
Alta demais. Antiga demais. Uma dessas portas de Berlim que parecem ter sido feitas para o mundo atravessar de uma época para outra sem pedir licença.

Am Anfang öffnete sich die Tür. Das war keine Metapher.
Vor dem Krankenhaus, vor der Polizei, vor der verlorenen Kleidung, bevor irgendjemand versuchte, ein kleineres Wort zu wählen, um das aufzubewahren, was geschehen war, gab es eine Tür. Grün.
Zu hoch. Zu alt. Eine dieser Berliner Türen, die aussehen, als wären sie dafür gebaut worden, dass die Welt von einer Zeit in eine andere hinübergeht, ohne um Erlaubnis zu bitten.
