The story
In a psychiatric hospital in Berlin, Alexandre meets Heinz, a German man from another generation. Through conversations, silences and memories, two lives shaped by very different origins, experiences and ways of seeing the world begin to draw closer.
Written in Portuguese and German, Querido Heinz crosses the distance between Brazil and Germany to reflect on migration, memory, racism, mental health, war, freedom and responsibility. It is a story about what may emerge when two lives that seemed separate finally face one another.
The encounter at the centre of the cover
Querido Heinz moves through migration, memory, freedom, mental health, racism, war and responsibility. Born between Portuguese and German, it turns the meeting of two worlds into literature.

“No Hospital Evangélico Rainha Elisabeth Herzberge, todo grito tinha história. O problema é que história demora. E hospital não gosta de demora. Hospital gosta de sintoma. Sintoma cabe em papel. História não. A rotina tentava convencer a dor a andar em fila. E, entre uma coisa e outra, havia a sala de fumantes.”
Querido Heinz, capítulo 1, edição em pré-lançamento.
The book addresses sensitive themes, including mental health, racism and war.
