Portuguese for English speakers · B1

Priya in São Paulo · B1

The gates open: the Festival Travessia is happening. A band cancels five hours before the show, a reporter wants answers, a sponsor brings a contract, the team argues and a tent falls over. Then comes the aftermath: the debrief, the accounts, the formal e-mail, the neighbours' verdict, and an invitation to stay in Brazil. In each lesson you live a real situation with Priya, learn the secret no textbook tells English speakers, and practise until it sounds natural.

How the course works

• Each lesson starts with a short scene: a real situation in São Paulo Portuguese, with a summary in English.
• The explanation is in English and shows the secret: the B1 mistakes English speakers make in Portuguese (the subjunctive after ‘que’, ‘talvez’ and ‘quando’, ‘if I were’, ‘although’, ‘told me to’, formal pronouns, new false friends) and how to avoid them.
• Each module closes with a checkpoint. Then you practise, write, record your voice and take it out into the world. Pick your rhythm: De boa (light), No corre (standard) or Modo Nerdrake (deep).
